Hey Mexico family!
Where to start? Well my name is Emily Herrin, I live and have grown up in Boca Raton, Florida (all the way south and on the east coast!) I am a junior at Boca High and currently 16 years old but will be 17 when we are in Mexico! I have one sister who is 25 and a new baby nephew named Colton who I love so much! I spend most of my time with kids through babysitting jobs and working with children at a church, and I am also really involved in my school through clubs and student government which I love! Im not sure what my college plans are yet, but I really hope to go out of state and possibly major in children's ministry or early childhood education or something of that sort. I absolutely love being outside any chance I get, I feel like in nature is the place where you feel God's presence all around us! I would live in a tent even in my backyard if I could. =) Some of my favorites include coldplay, peanut butter, the beach, listening to worship music in my car with the windows down (best feeling ever), everything about the sky, swimming and diving, photography, journaling, anything with chocolate, yoga, running, sunflowers, TOMS shoes, smiling, and everything about this life! =)
I came to know about Adventures in Missions last year when I went on an ambassador trip last summer to Kenya, Africa for 1 month. That month forever changed me more than I can explain in words. While in Kenya, the Lord opened my eyes to everything that I was missing in this world. He broke my heart for the Kenyan children by allowing me to hold them as tight as I could and show them the love that God has for them. He showed me the power of prayer and that miracles really do happen even today. Although God worked miracles on that month in Kenya and has continued to do so since, I know this has only been a glimpse of what his power is capable of!
I know in my heart that God has planted a burning passion to keep doing something more with myself. I have a constant itch every single day to get back out and spread his word to other countries, and that is something that I feel I cannot ignore, therefore God brought me to this trip! I am extremely excited to see what God has in store for this amazing team, because I know that whatever expectations we have, he will always show us that he has more in store than we can imagine!
I am praying for each and every member of this team everyday and I can’t wait until we can all meet and share the love of Christ together in MEXICO! =)
